As per 49 CFR Parts 40, 199.241 (for pipeline operators) and 382.603 (for motor carriers) this online course will help you meet the training requirements for Drug & Alcohol Reasonable Suspicion Training. Not ALL employees (usually direct Supervisors or Managers) are required to have this training however, most companies with a workforce that has an attrition rate higher than 25% annually choose to train additional management and supervisory personnel to insure they can properly identify alcohol and substance abuse issues in the interim.

 

Train your supervisors to insure your federally regulated workplace is free from impaired employees! According to 49 CFR, all persons designated to supervise employees must receive at least 60 minutes of training on alcohol and 60 minutes on controlled substance abuse. This online course will help satisfy those requirements!

 

The Department of Transportation requires any supervisor who sends or refers employees for drug and/or alcohol testing under a DOT certified drug testing program, receive training in the administration and implementation of these procedures. Additionally, their training must include the physical, behavioral, speech and performance indicators of probable alcohol misuse and use of controlled substances.

 

If you have employees who are required to receive pre-employment as well as random drug and alcohol testing under a DOT mandated testing program, that is managed by the company or a Third Party Administrator (TPA) you must have supervisors trained to recognize suspicious behavior. This online training program will ensure your supervisors can develop and maintain a complete testing program while limiting the company's legal and regulatory exposure affiliated with these types of activities.

 

Q&A:

QuestionDo "Owner Operators" need Reasonable Suspicion Training?

Answer:  Individual Owner Operators who DO NOT employ additional drivers AND are currently enrolled in a DOT Drug and Alcohol Program are NOT required to undergo DOT Reasonable Suspicion Training for Supervisors.

Question: I've already had DOT Reasonable Suspicion Training. IS there a "refresher" requirement or do I need to take it again?

Answer: There is NO "recurrent training" requirement for DOT Reasonable Suspicion Training. That being said there ARE situations where you STILL must complete the training again: Supervisors who have completed this training (regardless of when) with their CURRENT employer are not required to take Reasonable Suspicion Training again. If you took the training with a DIFFERENT employer, this exemption does not apply. You should be aware that if you are a Supervisor and are not comfortable with your skills or knowledge or it has been a long time since you went through your initial training, consider taking the training again. While there is no refresher requirement, DOT requires that you have a working knowledge.

Question: Does my company need a WRITTEN Drug and Alcohol Policy?

Answer: FMCSA regulations require that you develop a written policy on controlled substances use and alcohol misuse in the workplace and that the policy be provided to every driver - There are many sources for obtaining this program, some can get quite costly. Online Training Cancellation & Refund Policy

Online training course orders are NOT eligible for refund, cancellation or transfer to a Seminar training course. We MAY approve a refund/transfer request provided the Student meets the following requirements:

  1. The Student MUST notify us of their desire to transfer or cancel IN WRITING within 24-hours of placing the online order. Requests MUST be sent via email (VERBAL requests are NOT accepted) to following address: comments@csregs.com AND;
  2. The Student must NOT HAVE EXCEEDED the MAXIMUM training TIME ALLOWED for ANY online course:
  • Courses with a TOTAL course time of 30 minutes to 1-hour: 10 minutes MAXIMUM
  • Courses with a TOTAL course time of 1-hour to 2-hours: 15 minutes MAXIMUM
  • Courses with a TOTAL course time of 2-hours to 7-hours, 59 minutes: 20 minutes MAXIMUM
  • Courses with a TOTAL course time of 8-Hours or more30 minutes MAXIMUM

Transfers: ALL Transfer requests MUST be made within 24-Hours of placing your order. We will ONLY approve transfer requests if the Student has not EXCEEDED the MAXIMUM time allotted. You may transfer your registration fee to a course of equal or lesser value. The tuition difference will NOT be refunded for transfers INTO a course of LESSER value. Transfers to courses of GREATER value must include payment of additional tuition with the transfer request.

If the request is made AFTER 24-hours OR the student has completed MORE THAN the MAXIMUM allotted training time (indicated above) your tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE.

Other Terms and Conditions:

  • Online training courses may NOT be transferred to another student.
  • Students have 90 days (3-months) to complete an online course.
  • Orders placed with a “Corporate Account” or “Discount Code” are NOT eligible for refund, cancellation or transfer. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Course Extension Policy:

  • Students have 90 days from the date of registration to complete all online coursesStudents may request a 1-month extension provided the request is made BEFORE the training course expires.
  • Courses that have been expired for a period of 6-months (180 days) or more are not eligible for reactivation. Students must re-register and pay the full tuition. 
  • Expired courses, students who have left the employ of a company or students who FAIL their final exam (see below) are NOT eligible for credit or refund of any kind, regardless of time spent in the course or time remaining.
  • All online courses have a final exam. Students must receive a passing grade to be issued a certificate of completion.

Students will be given 3 attempts to pass their final examination. If a student FAILS a final exam 3 times, they will be required to re-enroll in the coursepay all tuition and complete all course (including time) requirements if they want to take the course online a second time. There is no credit or partial discount for failed exams or re-registration.
